August 2020 Newsletter – Upcoming AGM
A few of Irish Doctors for Environment members last Saturday tried and tested out the new cycleway out to Dun Laoighre with local guide and cycle advocate Sean Barry.
IDE have been participating with linking many of the NGOs on improving the safety of cycling in Dublin and across towns and cities of Ireland, and we would like to thank these organisations for continuing to advocate for active transport and safe roads for future generations of cyclists and pedestrians.
Cycling has many health benefits, as it is a form of aerobic excercise, and has shown benefits towards tackling populations diabetes, heart-attack, stroke, obesity and absenteeism from work. Consequently the health benefit-to-risk ratios for cycling are excellent, estimated to be between 9:1 and 77:1 (source).
